Biography
Marion Pinaffo (born in 1987, FR) and Raphaël Pluvinage (born in 1986, FR) have been collaborating since 2015.. They live and work in the Tarn region, France. The distinctive practice of the Pinaffo & Pluvinage duo spans several fields such as toys, interactive installations, objects, and scenography. Whatever the scale or context, their work consistently revolves around the search for an aesthetic of manipulation and interaction.
Their graphic sensibility and their taste for simple materials have led them to create surprising yet accessible works, allowing the public to observe and manipulate phenomena that may initially seem complex.
Their work has been exhibited in France and internationally: Gaîté Lyrique (FR), Centre Pompidou (FR), MAD Paris (FR), madd Bordeaux (FR), FRAC Picardie (FR), FRAC Champagne-Ardenne (FR), Fotokino (FR), Hangar Y (FR), Vents des Forêts (FR), Mille Formes (FR), Design Museum Holon (IL), Triennale di Milano (IT), Graphic Design Festival Torino (IT), Elisava (ES), Gent Design Museum (BE), MUDAC (CH), Playground MAMCO (CH), Centro Cultural de Belém Foundation (PT), CIVA Brussels (BE). They have received several prestigious awards, including the Audi Talents Award (2017), the Hublot Design Prize (2019), and were part of the recent “Mondes Nouveaux” program (2023).
Some of their projects have entered the collections of the National Centre for Visual Arts (CNAP, FR) and the Cantonal Museum of Design and Contemporary Applied Arts (MUDAC, CH).
